A. Simple past

• digunakan untuk menggambarkan aksi lampau yg sudah selesai

Pola:

B. Past Continuous

• digunakan untuk menjelaskan aksi lampau yang panjang diinterupsi oleh aksi lampau yang pendek;
• digunakan untuk menjabarkan dua aksi yg panjang yang terjadi secara bersamaan di waktu lampau.

(+) S+Be (was/were)+Verb-ing+O/C/ROTS

(-) S+Be (was/were)+not+Verb-ing+O/C/ROTS

N.B.

Ketika menggunakan konjungsi "when, while, as", pada umumnya, aksi yang sifatnya singkat menggunakan kata kerja bentuk "Simple past." Sedangkan, kata kerja yg berbentuk "Verb-ing" merupakan aksi yang lama atau aksi yg berlangsung dahulu sebelum aksi singkat menginterupsi.
